Pawtucket, RI Bay View Seminary Commencement 1905

COMMENCEMENT AT BAY VIEW

The annual commencement exercises at Bay View Seminary were held yesterday. They were not public, only members of the institution being present. There was but one high school graduate, she being Miss M. C. McCabe, niece of Fr. McCabe of St. John's Church, Providence. Miss McCabe delivered the valedictory.

The order of exercises was a follows Orchestral selections, greeting chorus; valedictory, presentation of medals, and address by Rt. Rev. Bishop Harkins.

The members of the orchestra were Miss Alice McNally, Miss Sophia O'Leary, Miss Christina Leech, Miss Katheryn Hayes, Miss Regina Gormley, Miss Mollie Wylie, Miss Catherine Doran, Miss Philomene Ward, and Miss Catherine Scits.

Rt. Rev. Bishop Harkins took for the subject of his address, "Farewell" and explained the manner in which the different meanings of the word could be interpreted.

Members of the grammar school class were presented with medals. Other medals were presented as follows:

For Christian doctrine, gold medal, Miss McCabe

For vocal music, silver medal, Miss Katheryn Hayes, daughter of Co. and Mrs. P. E. Hayes of this city

For elocution, silver medal, Miss Alice McNally, daughter of Mayor and Mrs. Thomas H. McNally of Central Falls

For application to study, silver medal, appropriately inscribed, Miss Christina G. Leech, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. J. Leech of this city. Miss Leech also received a silver medal of honor for politeness and observance of rules.
