Salaries of Steelton's Birch-Wielders Fixed for the Year.

Children's Day Exercises Held at the Half-Way--An Interesting Program Carried Out--Ladies' Mite Society of the Bethel Church to Meet Tomorrow Night.

The school board held a special meeting in the library of the high school building on Friday evening. Teachers for the ensuing year were elected and the rate of tax made for the coming year. The salaries of teachers for the coming year were raised from five to ten dollars. The teachers in the primary, secondary and intermediate schools were given advance of five dollars while those in the grammar grades were advanced from seventy-five to eighty-five dollars per month. The following teachers were elected, and the schools they will teach, and the salary they will receive for the coming year:

High school:

C. S. Davis, principal, $1,000 per year
J. H. Keener, $85 per month
Grammar:

D. A. Hamacher, $70 per month,
C. F. Johnson, $70 per month
Intermediate:

A. M. Lindsay, $55 per month
J. E. Nell, $55
Eli Drawbaugh, $55
Alvin G. Irvin, $55
H. H. Summers, $55
Secondary:

Sallie M. Gibbs, $47.50 per month
Ella M. Miller, $47.50
George K. Landis, $47.50
George E. Zerfoss, $47.50

Primary:

Melissa M. Devore, $50 per month
Ettie Carl, $50

Grammar:

First year, $60
Second year, $65
Third year, $70
Assistant Principal High School:

First year, $75
Second year, $80
Third year, $95
Principal High School:

$1,000 per year.
